Summer Institute on Social Work Skills - Scholarships Available!
For the fourth consecutive summer, An Giang University and West Virginia University will be joining hands with Southeast Asia Children's Project, Pacific Links Foundation, the VA NGO Network as well as Partner Organizations in the An giang Dong Thap Alliance for the Prevention of Trafficking (ADAPT) including East Meets West Foundation and ICAN to bring together the Summer Institute on social work skills. Ms. Angela Dickey, Vice Consulate General - US Mission, will offer the Opening Remarks.
There will be emphasis on treatment for human trafficking victims. The topics for this year's Summer Institute will focus on:
1. Problem Identification and Intervention With High Risk Populations.
2. Mental Health Assessment and Counseling Skills
3. Child/Adolescent Management and Community Based Drug Prevention.
The workshops will be conducted in English with Vietnamese translation or in Vietnamese with English translation. The class setting will
draw participants from many different backgrounds and geographic
distribution, including social work practitioners from Cambodia,
adding to the opportunities of networking and referral potentials.
There are several optional extracurricular activities that have been
planned. At the conclusion of each workshop, students will receive a
certificate of completion by An Giang University and West Virginia
University. It is our hope that these workshops on social work
skills bring more tools to social work practitioners in Vietnam.
AGU and WVU's contributions along with the sponsoring organizations have made it possible to offer the Summer Institute free of charge to
participants. The workshops are on first-come first served basis. We
apologize in advance for not being able to provide accommodation nor
transportation for workshop participants due to limited budget. We
appreciate your understanding on this matter.
